I'll get right on that....

Apparently my bronze medal winner doesn't know how to put the all season tires back on my Maggie.

You know, the ones with the nice rims, that look really sharp and make her such an awesome looking car to drive here and there and everywhere.

I figure, either he doesn't know, or he's too busy working on the truck he recently bought.

Which, by the way, is a complete and total "thank you to the powers that be!!!" In my opinion anyway, which is really the only one that matters!

Keep in mind that after much deliberation and thought and trying to convince myself that it would be okay if I did let him drive her every now and then, I made the decision that there was no way in hell !!!! he was going to... well, once he finally got his license that is!

And now, he's far too busy working on the same truck he thinks I'm going to foot the bill for the insurance on.... LOLOLOL... uhmmm, yeah....about that....LOLOLOLOL

Answer me this.... Am I a nasty mom?

Rest assured however, the next time I'm asked to do something for him...

I'll be getting right on that!!!

About as quick as he changed over my tires.

Payback.

Nice, isn't it?

Ciao!!

Note to Self

Okay, it's time to get consistent.

Make a habit and stick with it.

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, and well, quite frankly, you've had a lot longer than 21 days to figure it out.

So make a decision.

And stick with it for crying out loud!!

Either keep Maggie in gear when she's not running....Or use the frickin' emergency brake!

Seriously, how many more times do you need to wrench your back hopping back into her while twisting your ankle attempting to put your foot on the brake so she doesn't roll into whatever is in front her, like a cement pillar, another car, a gas pump...

C'mon now....smarten up and get yourself a habit!

Live!! from my kitchen!!

Finally, a post!

New computer, new formatting, new stuff....

There will be more this weekend... if I can get the thing figured out without what seems like a ton of unwanted advice from those that think they know more than me getting all up in my face!!!

I've missed my blog world...

Get ready for it!!! 'cause it's a coming....

Ciao!!

To Whom Is The Party I'm Texting

You hear it about all the time.

Text messaging going awry.

I’ve never really believed it to be true, but then again, I only get text messages from SG and #1. Oh, and sometimes one of my girlfriends, but that’s about it. And they’re just your standard fair, you know, “Can you pick up milk” or “got 20 bucks I can have” or “what a night! need food for strength”. I had a hard time believing that someone could actually send a text message to the wrong person. I mean, all you have to do is pay attention to the name or number.

This morning, well, that all changed.

While buried deep into the final draft of a presentation I have to give on Friday morning to the North American Director of Operations, my phone buzzed. My phone buzzing at work is normal, I know who it’ll be and it can probably wait until I take my break.

But, for some unknown reason, I looked at the message.

“mornin sexy”

Laughing out loud, I thought “oh, someone’s a little….” well…never mind….and I was about to hit reply when I saw the number.

Wait…. who the hell is this? I thought to myself. I don’t recognize this number? It’s not even from this province…. Do I respond? And if I do, what do I say?

Not being one to not let curiosity get the better of me, I did hit reply.

“Uhmmm…who you calling sexy?” I texted back.

“u hon”

“Well thanks….I guess”

“u are hon”

Despite the unlimited texting plan my phone has, I wasn’t sure if that included out of province texting and thought I probably shouldn’t play along. Well, play along for too long anyway....

“I think you might have the wrong person”

“o sorry”

And I probably should’ve left it at that, but no…not me…. I’m friendly…

“No problem, nice to start the day with a giggle”

“Well I could make you more than giggle”

OMG!!! Did I really just read that? From someone who doesn’t know who they’re texting???

“Uhmmm… its okay…lololol”

Thinking that would be the end of it, I put the phone back on the corner of the desk and got back into what I was suppose to be doing….

Bzzzzzzz….

New message.

“u sure????”

“uhmmmm, yeah, I’m sure”

So there you have it. It does happen… and not just to other people either!

Now I’m deciding whether or not to delete the number…. Part of me wants to call it to see just who the hell was on the other end of these text messages.

And the other part of me doesn’t really want to know.

Any bets which side will win?

And even better yet, will I text the number in the morning asking where my "mornin sexy" is???

Will it last?

Guess who didn’t have the heat on in the car this morning? (And no, it had nothing to do with “chinooks”!!)

Guess who was driving around at lunch time with the “lid” open, the windows down and the music blasting?

Guess who may have been going just a wee bit too fast and met a very nice police officer?

Today was one of those absolutely and completely well deserved, much needed and oh so desired kind of days that we’ve been waiting for….. for soooo very long…

I have the feeling that spring is here.

Having seen more road kill than one could ever want to, viewing the little patches of brown grass poking above the water in the yard, hearing more and more different types birds (and maybe, just maybe, a couple of frogs) and quite possibly having seen a Robin, yes, I think it is here!

Couple those things with pulling into the driveway and seeing the deck furniture all set up, then finding a lovely bottle of white grape chilling in the fridge, the BBQ fired up for supper and feeling the warm sun shining on my face, well, the signs are all there!

I think the very nice police officer was thrilled by the day as well. He was in a very good mood….

The Rabbit Is No Longer Required.

Or so it would appear.

However, the Easter Bunny came.

It was touch and go there for a bit, but yes, she decided a visit to our house would happen.

She also decided to make a management decision this year. She decided that the hunt, well, the hunt just wasn’t going to happen. After all, no one had asked about the egg colouring that has been the tradition. No one asked when we were going to do it. No one showed any interest. And while she was game, it appeared that no one else was.

So, instead, she said "not gonna happen".

And she decided to lay it all out, right there, on the table, high enough away from the dogs (chocolate is not good for them at all!!) and then stood back to watch and see what happened.

And there it sits.

Still.

On the table.

It would appear that the Easter Bunny is no longer needed in this house. It would appear that the horrible experience of last year, where 3 missing coloured eggs were discovered in May, well after Easter, and the memory of cracking them open, and the smell, well, it was quite possibly too much to bear.

Happy Easter!

What am I going to do with 2 dozen boiled eggs is now the question?

We like the colour...

I had an opportunity yesterday to sneak away from the office for a few hours. Well, I didn't "sneak", I left with permission. Actually, what happened was I advised them that I would be taking an extra long lunch, I had somewhere else I needed to be. Someone I needed to see.

Every year, Skills Manitoba has a competition. It's for the schools that teach our children various trades. I guess if the student's teacher feels that the student is capable of entering and the student wants to participate, they enter the competition. It's both theory and practical and in the end, if they've done well, they gain confidence in the choice they've made and move forward with it. It's a win. If they don't do well, they walk away sad and rejected and thinking about a change in career.... like "maybe auto body isn't such a good idea, maybe I'd rather be a hairdresser" kind of thing.

Anyway, #1 entered at the urging of his teacher and his own realization that he might be able to pull it off. He thought the experience would be good anyway. It helped that there were only two from his trade that entered I think. At least, in his mind, he stood a chance. What he neglected to realize at first was that this was for all the schools throughout the province. Once that realization happened, well, he got a little nervous.

5:30 am wake up for the boy, a drop off at his buddies place for 6:15 and he was off. I begged him to stay in touch, let me know what was going on as I really wanted to come by and see some of it. He promised he would. Text message later (can't call from the phone, nooooo...send the words instead of saying them) I find out his morning is being spent on the theory and he'd be getting into the action in the afternoon. I timed it well I thought. Headed over there in time to bring him some lunch and give him some money. I'm fairly certain it would've worked out a whole lot better had he told me where exactly he was and I didn't spend 45 minutes looking for him. Walking the campus. In high heels. With his lunch in my purse. Once I finally found him I said "Now what? When do you start?"

You can imagine my disappointment when he said "I'm on at 2". There was no way in hell that I could stay to see him. I had a conference call at 2.

I wished him luck, gave him the lecture about paying attention, doing what he was instructed to do, you know, mom stuff. And left, a little disappointed. But hey, it wasn't a total loss.... I'm now very familiar with our city's college!

#1 had texted, said he did well, could possibly get a medal. A few scheduling adjustments and SG managed to get there for the Awards ceremony.

That there, my friends, is a Bronze medal. Needless to say, he is very thrilled. We are very thrilled for him. Even #2 is impressed. It means, that out of all the students throughout the province, that chose to participate, he's the third best.

I'm feeling very proud... sniff sniff!!

Going everywhere with this one...II

Oh no!! Not another series??? Please help us and don't let her do it!!!!

Hee hee... I know that's what your saying to yourself. But rest easy, it's okay. I have no idea how many chapters this one will have, I'm just going to go on and on until the upper level has purged itself. Until there is no more random frustration. Thoughts and ideas. Until there's silence..... This will probably be the last one. No.... maybe one more..... who knows? When you free up space, it gets taken over by other stuff!

Managed to install last night's update and get the task of taxes out of the way. I haven't actually "e-filed" them yet but whatever. I don't know why I stress about it. But I do. Anyway..... the loss of one of my deductions hurt a little bit. Well, actually, he hurt a lot, but that's another story!!! for another day... Refunds all around which means that the person doing the payroll knows what they're doing!

I completely forgot that the driver license renewal process had changed. Serious stress attack the other morning driving in to work, realizing I hadn't renewed my license...It's funny how you imagine finding yourself in a position where you could be in big trouble (speeding, cops pull you over, ask to see your license, no valid license....) and you all of a sudden start obeying the road rules. You drive the limit. You signal. You don't squeal your tires as you take off from a red light....

Oh, and here you go.... How could I have NOT known that there were two operating systems running on this box (whoops, this "computer"...sorry) and that's why it's been so slow to respond? I mean really???... I'm in charge of a freaking network and responsible enough to make sure the whole thing doesn't crash or burn or die or something and that the company can keep functioning. Yet I couldn't figure out what was wrong right under my nose.... I'm such a doof! And apparently not enough of a nerd either!

And for complete and totally random.... why do I get faster internet on my cell phone than I do on my dial up?

Going everywhere with this one...

So there's tons of random stuff running through my brain. Nothing worthy of an entire post to be sure, but stuff that has to get written down and out of my brain.

And while I sit here and wait for the most recent updates to the tax program I finally got around to loading, so I can face the dreaded filing of the income taxes, to download, I thought I'd post some of the stuff that's been rambling it's way through my brain. And, to make the downloading experience of tax updates on dial-up!! even that much faster I thought "why not post a blog, surf the internet, check your emails...." nevermind, I'm in this for the long haul. The refund better be worth it!

I can't understand why I still have puppies. Seriously. Past litters have sold within a couple of weeks. Bought and paid for. But this time, no go. Does it have something to do with the economy? The weather? WTF is the problem here. I've been watching the websites where people sell puppies and I'm the lowest priced of them all, and mine come with papers!!! And champion bloodlines. I just don't get it.

Did you know that it's not a good idea to try and peel a hard boiled egg while driving down the highway at 110 kms and hour? Oh sorry, make that 100 kms an hour. It just isn't. Because inevitably, if you manage to pull it off without tossing it out the window, you'll end up with egg shells in your mouth. Which is just gross... Eggs have to pass through a chicken's butt in order to make it to the carton and then to our grocery cart and then to our fridge.... EEEWWWWWW!

Watching your 23 year old co-worker participate in his fiances plans for their wedding is absolutely hilarious!! Dispensing advice (and really now? who am I to dispense advice on planning a wedding!) is as equally hilarious.

Oh, and look, the download is complete! Well I'll be....time to face the music I guess.

On that note, you can be sure to have a few more random thoughts to read as I clear the clutter from the upper level.

A Conversation

SG: Well Jodie, I don't know how you did it, but you managed to pull it off.

#1: Pull what off?

SG: Supper. That wasn't nearly as bad as it could've been.

All eyes turn to me.... and well, let's just say..... my eyes said it all.

#2: Whoooaaaaaa.....Dude!!!

#1: You are in sooooo much trouble....

#2: Yeah, you should've just been quiet.

#1: I think that was one of those "Did I say that out loud? I meant to think it" moments Dad.

Dear Mother Nature

I've had enough.
We all have.
If this was your idea of an April Fool's joke, I'm sorry, you're just not very funny!

Soooo, if you'd kindly get over whatever it is that has you ticked off, me, and the rest of us silly people who choose to live here, will thank you!
